  14. I bought a HP850C printer and I generally like it. The problemn was 
  15. trying to use it under WordPerfect 4.1 (the family still use this 
  16. program).
  17. It turned out that this specific model does not perform HMI commands 
  18. correctly (Esc&k***H). The first character after an HMI command will use 
  19. the standard 10cpi spacing instead. This ruins the spacing even in the 
  20. non-proportional mode, as the Printer.Tst document will show.
  21. I have built a new driver using Esc*p***X commands, which works with some 
  22. small restrictions (occasional incorrect right justification). If anyone 
  23. is interested pleas email me.

  25. I tried to find a way of contacting HP about this, but there only seems 
  26. to be phone support, at least in Europe. I prefer email, because it is 
  27. easier to explain things. The WWW site says it will not accept email 
  28. except on the WWW interface itself.) Anybody has a suggestion?
